I know the picture doesn't match the title of this post but I couldn't find the movie where someone asks "Will this go on my permanent record?"
Seth Godin has a great post about how "google remembers everything". It is so true. Back when I was a kid, adults would threaten us with infractions and transgressions ending up on our "permanent record". That was an empty threat. Today it is an Orwellian reality.
EVERYTHING you do and say on the internets is kept and will be kept f-o-r-e-v-e-r (or until the great EMP pulse comes and wipes all the data clean.) [points if you know what sci-fi show that is from].
