Make a First Impression

Yesterday, Lifehacker posted a link to a post from The Art of Manliness, on making a first impression. First impressions are a key element to building your personal brand. AoM recommends you focus on these key areas:

• Dress to impress.


• Look fit.


• Get an impressive handshake. (I am a nut about handshakes).


• Focus on speaking.


• Use the person's name.


• Let the person know you are listening.


• Shine the spotlight on the other person.

The article presents these as interviewing tips. I think these do well in ANY situation where you are meeting new people. And it is not just for men. Ladies...pay attention.
